Duece is doing great

Its been quite sometime since Deuce stepped foot into the house.  He's made such incredible progress.

Deuce is now fully "potty trained".  No "accidents" in weeks.  He loves treats and knows exactly which cabinet they're kept in.  He plays very well with the other dog.  He is perfect with my 9yr old son and has no problems with his friends (older or younger).  He sleeps out of the crate on some blankets in our room very peacefully.  He does not "wander" the house to be destructive.  I do keep him crated during the day if we all leave the house.  He does not need to be shoved into the crate.

We've cut his nails with little fighting.  He is very attached.  He's less clingy these days (he will not follow you all over).  He runs in the backyard and does not have the desire to jump a fence.  He no longer shoves his face into your food when you eat.

Deuce has definitely become a good house dog.  He is ready for his permanent home.  We'll be happy to answer any questions you have about him.

Update on "Star" or "Deuce"

Happy to report Star is learning the ways of home living.  He's figured out the bathroom is outside, not inside.  You can walk him into his crate with no problem when leaving the house or going to bed.  He's very good at eating out of his own bowl (not the whippet's bowl too).  He still loves tennis balls and squeak toys.  He seems very good with other dogs of medium/large size (haven't tried him with small dogs).

He's very attached to everyone here.  He's very good with my 9yr old son too.  He is definitely a people dog.  "Shadow" is an excellent description for this guy.  He won't let you leave the room without him.  He makes a good companion.  He also loves to be pet on the head.

He does not respond to any name we've tried--so his new owner's will need to come up with one for him.

Facts about Deuces:

He handles hardwood floors pretty nicely for a dog that's never tried them and is as tall as he is.  He loves squeaky toys and is fanatical about tennis balls.  He will retrieve them as long as you keep throwing them (unusual for a sight hound).  He is a moderate eater who won't devour his food as it hits the bowl.  He is very good with my son (9 yrs old) and he is indifferent about my whippet (she bothers him more than he looks at her).  He is a people-first dog.  He's very attached and likes to be around other people (he'll be your shadow).  He has a wonderful demeanor.  Always happy and friendly.  He's one of the most curious fosters I've had.  He doesn't jump the 4 foot fence in the back yard.  Comes home when whistled at.

Bathroom habits are an improving work in progress as well as his overall manners (didn't jump on a visitor today).

All in all, he's a very nice dog.  He can live in a home with or without children and as far as I can tell, other medium sized dogs.
